What is the Scientology View on Drugs?

The Scientology view on drugs is simple. Scientology is all about raising one's awareness, both physically and spiritually. Anything that diminishes one's awareness and control is not recommended. Since drugs result in one's awareness being decreased, Scientology opposes drug use when possible. Obviously, if you are receiving surgery or are at the dentist it is not prohibitted to use painkillers or anesthetics.
